West Bromwich Network Church is setup by the Diocese of Lichfield, West Bromwich Deanery, West Bromwich YMCA and the Walter Stanley Trust to be a Fresh Expression of church.

A natural question to ask would be "What on earth is a Fresh Expression of church?" A few years ago the Church of England published a report called the Mission Shaped Church which gave an in depth study of the role of the church in the UK in the 21st century. One of the biggest findings of the report was something which was plainly evident to all, namely, traditional forms of church consistently fail to relate to the majority of the population around them. This is not a fault of the people worshipping faithfully in those churches, merely a symptom of the cultural divide between anglican worship and secular culture. A new resourcing umbrella organisation called Fresh Expressions was formed which seeks to aid the development of new forms of church within the Anglican and Methodist denominations. Being a Fresh Expression of church means pretty much anything today. There are all manner of weird and wonderful new ways to explore church in different contexts, from bread making groups, to mother and toddler sessions, from skateparks to dinner and dance sessions for the elderly. West Bromwich Network Church will be focussing on the needs and culture of the 20-30's generation. So expect lots of live music, fun times, and high energy services. At the end of the day though, Fresh Expressions is about exploration - finding out what works in each place. No givens, no traditions, nothing to hold us back from making Jesus real in the 21st century.
